User Spotlights
Users of the DuraCloud service have implemented DuraCloud for a variety of use cases to meet various technical needs.
Rhodes College has used DuraCloud to provide access to large images that are part of a very rare collection. By leveraging the image viewing services provided by DuraCloud, they were able to provide immediate and advanced access to the collection, as well as preserving the historically important images at the same time. The Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), is the the largest archive of social science data (500,000+ files) in the world and because of this makes preservation one of their top priorities. By using DuraCloud as one of it's storage locations, ICPSR is ensuring that their archive of 6TB of data and growing is available into the future. WGBH has spent time investigating various technical solutions for preserving and streaming video. DuraCloud offered not only an efficient storage option, but also access to versions of some of their unique video content. In the future, they are interested in video file format transformation services, as well as transcoding directly in the cloud.
